Relational Database Design

"We can organize anything"

Relational Database Design

Relational Database Design encompasses a wide spectrum of task-based operations. A relational database stores application data, which can be retrieved or manipulated by running a relational query against the data in SQL (Structured Query Language). MySQL, MS SQL and Access are all relational database designs. Dynamic web sites use program code to generate SQL to process data in databases. Practical relational database design allows for flexibility and prevents the need for constant rework.

A Relational database is used by modern web applications to store and manage information placed on web pages by server-side programs. The applications can range from simple dynamic content such as a portfolio to extremely complex programs like online banking. All these applications are powered by relational databases running on the web site's server.

Some of the many tasks that databases are designed for include:

  • to simplify order processing.
  • to stay current with inventory management, sales analysis, expense reports, project deadlines, etc.
  • to merge data into form letters, newsletters, invoice forms, mailing labels and envelopes.
  • household inventory, little league rosters, holiday card lists, record album or CD collections, address books, etc.

. . . and much more

Relational Database Design Process

Step 1: Initial Consultation

Before any new Relational database is designed, a FREE analysis of complete data and work flow takes place to determine how the customer information needs to be accessed and presented. For questions or a FREE ANALYSIS or call (913) 825-2587.

Step 2: Prepare Estimate

Upon completion of the initial consultation, if your organization decides to proceed with an estimate, we will spend time to develop a detailed estimate of relational database construction costs. The information gathering process may involve additional meetings, phone consultations, and e-mail messages.

We charge for estimate preparation based on the complexity of the project. These charges are billed when the estimate preparation process begins. If a development contract is signed, the estimate preparation charges will be applied to the first invoice for the project. If your organization decides not to work with us, you will still receive a valuable set of specifications.

Step 3: Contract Signing

We prepare a standard contract that details the work to be done and agreed upon terms. When the contract is signed, 1/3 of the estimated construction cost, less estimate fees, is due.

Step 4: Configure Relational Databases

Any dynamic application code is now written. Relational databases as specified by the project are built and deployed. Application code is heavily tested.

Step 5: User Acceptance Testing

Your organization's relational database will be loaded to a live private location on the Internet. You will be able to review the relational database for corrections and minor changes.

Step 6: Liftoff!

Database launch time! Your organization's relational database is complete and loaded live to the Internet. Payment balance on the development project is due and payable when your design is loaded to the Internet.
